This Privacy Policy explains how Catspaw Systems (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use Werds
.1. Information We Collect
Games and poems saved on your deviceWerds stores game progress, saved games, and poetry compositions on your device. Creating or saving a poem does not automatically publish it to the Poetry Gallery. Device backups may include locally stored app data, depending on your Apple settings.
Public Poetry GalleryIf you choose to publish a poem, we store the following information using Apple’s CloudKit service:Your poem and its composition.Your public display name, which may be your Game Center name or your chosen sharing name.The associated game score, starting board, and game configuration.Publication time and identifiers associated with the submission.A CloudKit account identifier used to associate submissions with their author.Your published poem, display name, score, starting board, and publication information are available to other gallery users. Other users can play the associated board. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in your poems or display name.You can browse the gallery without signing into iCloud. Publishing, voting, and submitting in-app reports require iCloud sign-in. Werds does not receive your Apple Account password or email address through CloudKit.
VotesWhen you vote on a poem, CloudKit stores its vote count and a token derived from your CloudKit account identifier and that poem’s identifier. These tokens help manage votes and are stored with the poem’s publicly readable voting records. They do not contain your email address or display name.
Reports and blockingWhen you report a poem, we store the report reason, the poem’s identifier and text, the author’s identifier, the reporting account’s CloudKit identifier, and moderation status. Reports are available to us for moderation and are not displayed publicly in the gallery.Blocked-author lists and information about poems you have reported and hidden are stored locally on your device. These preferences do not automatically synchronize across your devices.
Game CenterIf you use Game Center, Werds submits game scores and related leaderboard information to Apple. Your Game Center display name and scores may be visible to others according to Game Center’s settings and policies.
AdvertisingWerds uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as device identifiers, IP addresses, approximate location derived from IP addresses, advertising interactions, app interactions, and diagnostic information.Advertising data collection and use depend on your consent choices, device settings, region, and the advertisements served. Where Apple requires permission for tracking across other companies’ apps and websites, we request that permission through Apple’s tracking authorization prompt. Declining tracking does not necessarily stop all advertising-related data collection.For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Diagnostics and usage informationApple may provide crash reports, performance information, and usage analytics according to your Apple privacy settings. Advertising services may separately collect diagnostics and usage information under their own policies and applicable consent choices
.Support communicationsIf you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, message, and any attachments.
2. How We Use InformationWe use information to:Operate Werds and its sharing, gallery, voting, and leaderboard features.Associate published content with its author and enable removal of that content.Review reports, moderate content, and respond to abuse.Respond to support and privacy requests.Understand app performance and fix problems.Display advertisements and support advertising consent choices.Meet legal obligations and protect users and our services.
3. How We Share InformationInformation you publish to the Poetry Gallery is shared with other gallery users as described above.We use Apple’s CloudKit and Game Center services to provide cloud and leaderboard features. Apple processes information under its applicable terms and Privacy Policy.Google and its advertising partners process advertising information as described in their privacy policies.We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, address fraud or abuse, or protect the rights and safety of users and others.
4. Retention and DeletionPublished poems remain in the gallery until you remove them or we remove them for moderation or other operational reasons.You can remove your published poems from
My Poems in the gallery. Removing a published poem also removes its associated voting record. Deleting a locally saved game, editing a local poem, or uninstalling Werds does not remove an already published poem.Reports may retain a copy of a reported poem after the public poem is removed. We retain reports and support communications only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve issues, address abuse, and meet legal obligations.Other devices may temporarily retain cached copies of gallery content. Removing content from the gallery cannot remove copies that others have independently saved or shared.Apple, Google, and other service providers apply their own retention policies to information they process.
5. Your ChoicesYou can:Use the game without publishing poems.Browse the gallery without iCloud sign-in.Remove your published poems through
My Poems.Block or unblock authors through the gallery.Manage Game Center, analytics sharing, and tracking permissions in your Apple device settings.Review advertising privacy options through Werds where available.Contact us to request access to or deletion of information we retain about you.
For privacy requests, contact us via https://catspaw-systems.com/contact-us.html. We may need information sufficient to verify that a request relates to your content or account. Please do not send your Apple Account password.
6. SecurityWe use safeguards intended to protect information, including CloudKit access controls for published content and reports. No electronic storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
7. Changes to This PolicyWe may update this policy as Werds changes. We will publish the revised policy at this location and update the date above.
